The new theme for the Carri\u00e8res de Lumi\u00e8res 2026 programme has been unveiled. The Carri\u00e8res de Lumi\u00e8res sound and light show in Les Baux de Provence will be devoted to Picasso. It will be entitled: \"Picasso, art in motion\". <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Won't the effects of volume provide a new perspective on the works of this cubist painter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This retrospective, staged on the walls of the Carri\u00e8res, invites visitors to discover the various techniques explored by the artist: engraving, sculpture, paper and glue, assemblages, folding and ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screening will be followed by a 14-minute short programme on the Mexican artist (1907-1954) Frida Khalo, entitled \"En plein Coeur\" (In the Heart). The screening invites you to immerse yourself in her world, and to experience her intimacy and creative force in an explosion of colours, symbols and emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From her earliest works to her most assertive paintings, in which she explores her multiple identities, and through her animated plant, organic and anatomical motifs, she has transformed pain into art, fragility into strength, the intimate into the universal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She met Pablo Picasso at his own exhibition in Paris in 1939, and they both admired each other's talent. Picasso gave her a pair of earrings in the shape of hands, which she represented in a self-portrait dedicated to Dr Eloesser in 1940.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
